<p>
Hot Potato will be published Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between
1100 and 1200 Greenwich Mean Time (<a href="http://athena.wednet.edu/curric/utime.html" target="_top">UTC</a> for you purists) for as long as
it's fun or profitable. I'll keep it short because reading on-line is expensive
and hard on the eyes.
<p>
I'm a card-carrying liberal and not ashamed of it, although I don't accept
all of the liberal dogma. I was born in America but I've lived for seven
years in Amsterdam, so I bring you an expatriate's view of America.
I read the best Dutch daily newspaper,
<a href="http://www.nrc.nl" target="_top"><I>NRC Handelsblad</I></a>. It offers
a point of view that you won't find in the <I>Times</I>. I surf a fair bit.
In the past I've been a photographer, yacht delivery captain, sailmaker, boat
designer and builder, political hack, child welfare
social worker, transportation manager, real estate consultant, computer
programmer, project manager, writer, and Web designer.
<p>
My aim is simply to offer thought-provoking ideas on a
wide range of topics. I'll start Friday with a series of articles:
"Where Did All the Money Go? The Impoverishment of America." That should
give you plenty of food for thought.
